Expeditions
FIELD EXPEDITIONS
The Institute conducts field expeditions in the Irkutsk, Chita, Magadan, Amur and Krasnoyarsk Regions, in Republics of Sakha, Khakassiya, Buryatia, Tyva and in Mongolia aimed at studying of:
• geology, magmatism and metallogeny of south-eastern surrounding of the Siberian Platform, central and western sectors of the Mongol-Okhotsk Fold Belt, north-east of Russia, Kamchatka and Mongolia;
• ophiolitic complexes of Baikal Area, Transbaikalia and Mongolia;
• rare-metal-granitic and granite-pegmatitic ore-magmatic systems within the western sector of the Mongol Suture Zone and adjacent areas of Mongolia;
• gold ore-magmatic systems located within the western and south-western parts of the Mongol-Okhotsk Fold Belt and north-east of Russia;
• volcanism in the Baikal Rift Zone;
• sedimentary cores obtained from lakes Baikal, Hovsgol and small of the Eastern Siberia;
The Institute pursues a constant geochemical monitoring of the environment in the Baikal Region.
